EVOLVE GRASSROOTS FUNdamentals

Evolve is excited to be able to run our grassroots program for another year. Athletes will explore movement and fundamental skills for success in basketball. They will work on body stability/control, locomotor skills, and manipulative skills that will be practiced in a fun and engaging learning environment.

Individual practice time, stations, and simple cooperative fun will be used to introduce and explore the game of basketball.

Athletes will finish the program with a better understanding of how to play the game of basketball as well as the skills needed to play.

The program is lead by Sarah Lundgren.  Sarah has been involved in the Manitoba basketball coaching community for over 20 years.  She was the head coach of the Varsity Girls Basketball Program at Westwood Collegiate.  She has head coached the U15 and U17 girls provincial teams where she won a silver medal at both levels. She was the Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries Coach of the Year for her efforts with the provincial team. For the past 10 years she has put her focus
into the grassroots development in the basketball community.  She has successfully ran a Mini Warriors program out of Westwood Collegiate that has taught hundreds of young athletes about the game of basketball. Sarah is currently the director of the grassroots programming with Evolve and wants to continue to teach young athletes about this amazing game.

EVOLVE BASKETBALL DEVELOPMENT BRIDGE THE GAP PROGRAM

Evolve Basketball Development is excited to offer an intensified program for eager and interested student-athletes born in 2011, 2012 and 2013.

Our Bridge the Gap Program is looking to bridge the gap between our Grassroots Development Program and our High School aged Club Teams.

The program will consist of 2 practices throughout the week and a game on the weekend.  We are hoping to have 20-24 players apart of the roster to be able to create our own house league for those games.  The focus of this program is to build skill development and game concepts.  With our own house league it will allow us to have the athletes really focus on playing conceptual basketball instead of having to focus on set offences and defences.

The program will run from the beginning of October to the beginning of March.  This will give the athletes over 60 hours of instructional time and more than 20 games.

The practices will be held out of Sport for Life and the games will take place at St. Boniface College. The program will mainly run on Tuesday and Thursdays with some Mondays starting in
January. The games will be held on Saturdays.

EVOLVE SPRING BREAK CAMP 2024

Come explore and practice team and individual skill development concepts in a fun, uptempo and challenging working environment.  Programming will be individualized by experienced coaches to suit the needs of beginner to competitive basketball players.  Our spring break camp is open to male and female athletes from Grades 7-12.

Our spring break camp can be used to iron out your skills and improve fitness and conditioning; this camp will allow athletes to get ready for their respective club programs and allows athletes to get ready for upcoming competition opportunities in the spring/summer.

We are looking forward to growing the game of basketball in our province together!
